Cookie Policy
There is one cookie. It signs you in. There is no banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The whole list
Coldcache sets exactly one cookie:
- coldcache_session — a signed token that keeps you logged in. HttpOnly, so scripts on the page cannot read it. SameSite=Lax. Secure in production. It lasts 30 days, or until you sign out.
Why there is no consent banner
Under the ePrivacy Directive, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary for a service the user has requested. A cookie whose only job is to keep you signed in is strictly necessary, and is exempt.
We set no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no third-party cookies, because we run no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. There is genuinely nothing else to ask you about.
If that ever changes, you will get a real consent choice before anything is set — not a pre-ticked box and not a banner that only offers 'accept'.
One thing that is not a cookie
Your light or dark theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. It never leaves your device, it is not sent to us, and it is written only when you actively choose a theme.
Controlling it
Signing out deletes the session cookie. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings at any time — the only consequence is that you will be signed out.
Blocking the session cookie entirely will prevent you from signing in, because there is then no way for the site to remember that you did.
